Description
Philosophy: Norma has found her calling in life - to assist people in reaching their goals overcoming the challenges of ADD; AD/HD and hearing loss. As an AD/HD coach; she is specifically trained to work with AD/HD clients. This training includes a thorough understanding of the nature of the AD/HD personality and conditions which often accompany AD/HD. Her goal is to be able to help her clients develop strategies to deal with AD/HD-specific difficulties and steer her clients toward finding the tools needed to structure their lives and build upon their own unique talents and strengths. Norma is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ (UMDNJ), where she teaches courses in the Institute of Complementary and Alternative Medicine on Integrative Health Coaching and Mind/Body Medicine. Norma received M.S.W. and Ph.D. degrees from Rutgers University. She is a licensed social worker and professional coach; and a graduate of the ADHD Comprehensive Coach Training Program of the American Coaching Association; and the Fast Track Coaching Program. She is also a graduate of Mentorcoach; a coach training program for mental health professionals. She is a Senior Certified AD/HD Coach (SCAC) by the International Association of AD/HD Coaches. She is a Certified Peer Mentor for the Hearing Impaired (Gallaudet University; 2007); and a Certified Hearing Loss Support Specialist (Hearing Loss Association of America; 2007) and completed the Edge Foundation coach training program "Coaching Teens & College Students with AD/HD" taught by Jodi Sleeper Triplett. Norma has spent many years personally and professionally dealing with ADHD individuals. She has a special interest in issues relating to hearing impairment due to her own late onset of hearing loss. Prior to her work as a hearing enhancement and AD/HD coach; Norma spent 18 years as a policy analyst and researcher for the New Jersey Office of Legislative Services; staffing committees; drafting legislation and analyzing policy issues in the areas of mental health; early child care and development; maternal; child and adolescent health; and substance abuse. This gave her insight from a public health perspective into the effects of cognitive impairments. During her post-doctoral work at Rutgers; Norma taught graduate level courses in such subjects as social policy analysis; research methodology and medical sociology. - Work Experience: Currently at Odyssey Coaching & Consulting; specializing in individual and group coaching sessions and support groups for people with AD/HD; hearing loss or other cognitive impairments. .- Client Types: Adults; Teens; College Students; Business owners/Executives; Professionals; Entrepreneurs; Artists - Coaching Format: Phone; In Person; Email - Personal Characteristics: - Additional Info: - Fee: Coaching packages available
